Do you produce hand made products? Experience has undoubtedly shown you that craft fairs are a very unpredictable outlet – your buyers are generally limited to those in the locality or those with a personal connection. Galleries and sales outlets often charge huge commission rates. Even if you already have your own web site, there is no guarantee that you will be found by the search engines. The answer is to become a part of The Craft Convention.
As a community, we can have more influence – there is strength in numbers – and we can be more easily found, therefore we can attract more customers.
How does this happen? Search engines love active sites – ours will be updated constantly. They also like lots of similar words within one site – they assume that this must be an important topic, which needs to be found. So, if many of us are writing about our craft and our products on TCC, we will be ranked as the site to visit. Does this mean that you will be in competition with others on the site?
Better to be in a highly ranked and locatable site than small fry, lost amongst millions on the World Wide Web!
As a community on the www, we will be able to forge links with the type of professional body that will improve those all-important search engine rankings, such as trade organisations, academic institutions and exhibitions.
What about Terms & Conditions?
Unlike setting up and maintaining your own individual website and payment facility at your own cost, you get a pre-prepared and serviced Studio for which you pay a small commission only on what you sell. Please click here for our full Terms & Conditions.
How do you get started?
You will need access to a digital camera and a computer with internet facilities (PC or Mac) and regular e-mail access. It doesn’t matter if your computer skills are very basic, we will provide straightforward step by step instructions. You can open your studio with as much – or as little – stock as you like.
On the Buy page, you will see a Galleria of ‘choice’ items on display. Product categories are located down the left hand side. Click on a title to display available sub-categories. If you think that no category exists which will suit your products, then please send a request for an additional category or sub-category to contact@thecraftconvention.com for our consideration.
What happens next?
Your clients come to The Craft Convention web site, view your stock and make a purchase using our secure TradeSafe™ on-line payment system. You will receive a simultaneous e-mail notifying you of the sale and the details for dispatch. Your Studio has its own stock control and accounting facility so that you have an exact record of all your transactions.
This is what you have been looking for, your own managed web presence, leaving you free to do what you enjoy best, being creative. |
